The Art of Pho is a comic by Julian Hanshaw which was adapted into an interactive motion comic format by Submarine Channel. For over a year, from 2010 to 2011, I directed this project. I created a structure and workflow for converting the story into an interactive widescreen format, conceptualized mini-games for the comic, created animation, and led a team of animators and programmers to bring this comic to life. We chose to preserve the hand-drawn feeling of the comic by using 2D animation techniques. Watch the trailer below:
The Art of Pho was created in flash, which is no longer supported in most browsers, so sadly the interactive dimension is no longer possible to experience. The episodes still exist in a non-interactive animation format.
